After the ICC Men's World Cup 2023, Shami got injured and took almost 14 months to recover from it.

"For the first two months I often doubted whether I would be able to play again as an injury like this followed by a 14-month break can pull you down,"

Mohammed Shami said.

Shami had worked really hard to make himself fit to be able to make a come-back in Professional Cricket for Indian Team.

Then he got picked for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 squad in the absence of Bumrah to lead India's pace bowling attack.

He practiced hard in Dubai before the first match against of Champions Trophy against the Bangladesh team.

He also tried to improve his batting so that he can score some crucial runs in the end even after being a tail.

Then he helped India by taking his first wicket in Champions Trophy in the first over of Champions Trophy 2025 for India.

Mohammed Shami had taken 5 wickets against Bangladesh in his first match of Champions Trophy 2025 for India.

He just made it clear that he is still capable of performing for India by leading the bowling attack.
